Sergey Lebedev shares on the high level of preparation of polling stations in the Republic of Belarus

Head of the CIS observer mission, Chair of the CIS Execom Sergey Lebedev expressed opinion that the polling stations had been duly prepared for the elections of members of the House of Representatives of Belarus to be held on 11 September 2016.

Sergey Lebedev underscored that the observers had noted good knowledge of electoral law by members of election commissions and other stakeholders. He added that at the current stage the CIS observers focused on the capacities of district and precinct commissions to serve voters, as early voting was to start on 6 September.

Sergey Lebedev mentioned the high quality of "rehearsal" voting indicating the overall good level of preparation. He noted that campaigning materials were in sufficient supply at stations. The campaigning is becoming more dynamic, with more work emerging for observers.

He commented that the CIS observers were working in all regions of Belarus and the number of observers was constantly growing.

IPA CIS observer team which includes 40 officials from the IPA CIS Secretariat and IIMDD IPA CIS is part of the CIS mission. In accordance with a decree by Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Vice Speaker of Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Vladimir Bozhko was appointed Coordinator of the Mission.
