The issues of improving election law, building electoral framework, and monitoring of civil right violations at pre-election stage were central to the work of the IPA CIS Since its inception.
“In 2002 the CIS adopted the Convention on the Standards of Democratic Elections, Voting Rights and Freedoms, and today I note with appreciation that this year Belarus ratified the Convention joining other states which did so earlier. I hope that the IPA CIS members will continue this important effort, moving forward”.
Vladimir Andreychenko noted the great number of participants who at the Conference. “The level of representation confirms the ongoing interest in discussing electoral processes. We thank parliamentarians from Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Tajikistan for accepting our invitation to visit Minsk”.
