Chairman of the CIS Execom takes part inthe Conference in Minsk

At the Conference in Minsk, Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Execom, noted that the Conference was the third such meeting over the last five years. He stresses its role in developing new approaches for election monitoring and consolidating the efforts of the CIS countries in this field.

No doubt, today’s important forum led by the IPA CIS, CIS Execom and the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus will be another step in the fruitful cooperation of the CIS members in building electoral framework.
He noted that with the adoption of the Convention on Standards of Democratic Elections, Voting Rights and Freedoms the Commonwealth provided a legal basis for the efforts of the CIS observers. The Convention ensures equal standards applied by election observers which results in fair and unbiased findings, added Sergey Lebedev.
