The Tavricheskiy Palace Hosted Meeting of IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues

On 15 April 2021, the meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues took place in a mixed format in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the headquarters of the IPA CIS.

The meeting was attended by the MPs of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as developers of draft documents and experts.

The meeting began with an organizational issue, the MPs elected Deputy Chairs of the Permanent Commission.

The meeting continued with a discussion of the draft Law on National Security. The commission members decided to approve basically the draft Model Law on National Security and send it to the parliaments of the IPA CIS Member Nations to obtain expert opinions.

During the meeting, the draft Recommendations on the Integration of International Humanitarian Law Into the Guidance Documents of the Armed Forces, the System of Military Vocational education and training of troops (forces) of the CIS Member Nations and the Model Methodology for Evaluating Initiatives in the Field of Regulation of the Traffic of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors. The work on these documents was recognized as completed. The commission members decided to ask the IPA CIS Council to submit both projects at the plenary session of the IPA CIS.

In addition, the MPs approved the draft Model Law on Single System for Calling Emergency Services and suggested the developer to continue working on the document.
