Issues of harmonization of labor and migration legislation across the CIS discussed in the Tavricheskiy Palace

During the spring session of the IPA CIS the meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on the Social Policy and Human Rights held its session in the Tavricheskiy Palace.
Chair of the Commission, Chair of the Committee of Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Regional Affairs Arif Rahimzade opened the meeting.
The members voted for the extension of mandates of the currently serving Deputy Chairs of the Commission: Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on Social Issues, Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Almazbek Toktorov and Chair of the Committee of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on Social Issues, Family and Public Health Khilolbi Kurbonzoda.
The MPs of the national parliaments and invited experts discussed the draft Model CIS Labor Code and the framework of the future model CIS Migration Code.
The participants were informed on the activity of the IPA CIS Working Group on the review of legislation in the field of HIV/AIDS and migration in the CIS countries, as well as the actions to implement the CIS Cooperation Program for Prevention and Treatment of Diabetes in 2016-2020 from the perspective of the rights of the child.
The members of the Commission were also briefed on the activity of the CIS Advisory Board on Labor, Migration and Welfare and the progress of drafting the agreements in the field of migration by the CIS countries based on the model agreements adopted on the initiative of the Commission.
At the end of the session Arif Rahimzade presented medals and memorial signs on the 25th anniversary of the IPA CIS to the persons who drafted the documents: Program Director of the International Alliance Labor Migration Sergey Boldyrev, Director of the Information Center for Migration Legislation of St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Civil Society Organization Russian Red Cross Society Natalia Zaibert, Co-Chair of the Russian Diabetes Federation, Chair of the St. Petersburg Diabetes Society Marina Shipulina.
