Model Law on National Security Discussed in Tavricheskiy Palace

On 5 March, the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters – hosted a regular meeting of the Joint Commission at the IPA CIS for the Harmonization of National Laws Related to Security, Countering Emerging Threats and Challenges.

The meeting brought together members of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues, representatives of the CIS bodies of sectoral cooperation, relevant CIS agencies, educational and academic institutions and international organizations.

The session discussed the implementation of the IPA CIS Plan of Events Dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941 – 1945. President of regional public organization “Information and Analysis Center ‘We Remember Everyone by Name’” Galina Savelyeva presented a report on the commemoration of the fallen defenders of the Motherland.

The members of the Commission and experts continued discussing draft Model Law on National Security.

The participants were also informed on the progress of work on the draft CIS Model Guidelines on Military Police Service (commandant's service, military automobile inspection) and Model Law on Unified Emergency Call Handling System.

The draft CIS Recommendations on Incorporation of Norms of International Humanitarian Law in Guidance Documents of Military Forces, Schedules of Military Professional Education and Troops Training were also brought to the attention of the commission members.

The members and experts discussed the proposals received from the CIS parliaments and bodies of sectoral cooperation to include a number of model laws in the Long-Term Plan of Model Law-Making of the CIS for the next period and submitted their recommendations for the consideration by the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues.
