6th Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions completes its work in the Tavricheskiy Palace

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko attended the closing plenary session. Both leaders drew a particular attention to the importance of a continued cooperation in their speeches.

“Our countries are strengthening political and economic cooperation within the framework of the Union State, which celebrates the 20th anniversary this year, and actively participating in the activities of the Eurasian Economic Union, in building of a single market for goods, services, capital and labor force, and are closely cooperating within other regional organizations, including the CSTO” – stressed Vladimir Putin.

In his turn, Alexander Lukashenko noted that the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation had come to an agreement on a number of fundamental issues in the development of integration processes within the Union State. “Today, the government groups are actively working on deepening integration and development priorities. Vladimir Putin and I have reached an agreement in this regard” – stated Alexander Lukashenko.

Before joining the participants in the Dumskiy Hall, the Presidents held a bilateral meeting in the Tavricheskiy Palace, where Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko discussed the issues of integration and agreed to resolve it in the immediate future.

A meeting of the Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko and Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus with the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and the regions of the Republic of Belarus also aimed to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.

Mikhail Myasnikovitch commended the Russian party for organizing the VI Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions and noted the interested and active position of its participants.
