“At the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum we will take a step forward towards true equality for women”, said Valentina Matvienko

The First Eurasian Women’s Forum brought together delegations from more than 80 countries, this year more countries are expected to participate, she added.

The women agenda is very vibrant and ambitious. We prepare discussions on the issues of utmost relevance for our contemporaries. Development of women-led businesses, enhancing the role of women in the economy will be one of the key topics. The event will feature special meetings and sessions of distinguished international organizations including the BRICS Women’s Business Club, the Women’s G20, the APEC, and the UNIDO.

The International Labour Organization was the active participant of the First Eurasian Women’s Forum; its representatives are getting ready for the forthcoming Forum in 2018.

2018 is declared the Year of Volunteer in the Russian Federation. About seven million Russian citizens participate in the volunteer activities; the majority of the volunteer projects are headed by women. Promotion of humanitarian and charity projects will be one of the major topics during the forum where the most vivid innovative practices will be presented.

The Second Eurasian Women’s Forum will focus on the topic Women for Global Security and Sustainable Development. It will take place in St. Petersburg on 20-21 September.
