Heads of parliaments spoke to the media at a scrum

The Press Office of the IPA CIS held a press conference on the outcomes of the 43rd plenary session of the IPA CIS. It was attended by Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Milli Majlis Committee on Regional Affaires of the Republic of Azerbaijan Arif Raghimzade, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov, Deputy Chairperson of the House of Commons of the Republic of Belarus Victor Guminskiy, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Assylbek Zheenbekov, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Vityuk, Chairperson of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloev.

During the press availability session the parliamentarians emphasized the importance of continuous efforts to harmonize the migration legislation.

‘In the former Soviet republics the migration issues have always been topical, labour migration is an important component of economics in any state. We continue close cooperation on migration issues’.

The parliamentarians touched upon the elections that had recently passed in several countries.

Another important question was antiterrorism efforts. The IPA CIS will address to parliaments of other countries and the international parliamentarian organizations with the statement “On joining efforts against global terrorism”.

This initiative was proposed by the head of the senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev and was approved by the IPA CIS Council.
