Meet the Artist program with Grachya Tamrazyan in the National Library

The Meet the Artist program with the Director of the Research Institute under the Government of the Republic of Armenia, the winner of the Chingiz Aitmatov Award was held in the Russian National Library.

Grachya Tamrazyan is an Armenian statesman, poet, linguist, a member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, a member of the Writers’ Guild of the USSR. His poems and translations are published in Armenia, and his poetry is translated into English and French. He is also a member of the Writers’ Guild of the Republic of Armenia since 1985.

In 1976 Grachya Tamrazyan graduated from the Erevan State University (Philology Department). In 1993 – 1995 – the head of the Publishing and Information Department under the government of Armenia. In 1995 – 1997 – the Minister of Information in Armenia.

Since 2007 Grachya Tamrazyan has been the head of the Mesrop Institute of Ancient Manuscripts commonly referred to as the Matendaran, which has the biggest collection of ancient Armenian manuscripts.

During the program in the library Grachya Tamrazyan told the participants about the Matendaran and answered their questions. Grachya Tamrazyan hopes for the close cooperation of the Russian National Library and the Matendaran.
