IPA CIS delegation participates in the 135th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union

This week in Geneva the IPA CIS delegation is taking part in the events within the 135th Assembly of the IPU as its associate member.

The delegation, headed by IPA CIS Council Chairperson, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, also includes Member of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation, Chairman the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev, and IPA CIS Council Secretary General Alexey Sergeev.

Today, Konstantin Kosachev addressed the members of the Assembly on behalf of the IPA CIS. He confirmed the commitment of the IPA CIS to play a full-fledged role in the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in different areas, such as the promotion of electoral standards, in particular, based on the Convention on Standards of Democratic Elections, as well as electoral rights and freedoms across the CIS.
