Message of Vladimir Putin to the participants of the commemorative session of the IPA CIS dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War

Dear friends!

May I cordially welcome you on the occasion of the opening of the plenary session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The Great Victory is a shared heritage of our nations who fought shoulder to shoulder against a fierce enemy, defending their freedom and the independence of the Homeland, and saved Europe from the Nazi yoke. For all of us the endeavor of our fathers will remain an eternal example of unmatched courage and resolve, stoicism and genuine brotherhood of nations – so different in identity.

We must reassert our moral commitment to safeguard the true story of the Great Patriotic War, uphold the tribute to the fallen, care for the War veterans who lived long enough to celebrate this moment of glory together with us. We must foster the spiritual cohesion among generations and instill the ideals of good, justice and attachment to Homeland among the youth.

I am confident that the heroic moments in the common history, ownership of the Great Victory, good practices of friendship and trust will remain a bedrock of cooperation among our countries as we move forward.

Wishing you every success, may I congratulate you on the approaching Victory Day.

Vladimir Putin
