Mikhail Myasnikovich called for enhanced cooperation between the IPU and the IPA CIS

The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus provided a venue for the meeting of Speakers of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich and Vladimir Andreichenko with President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Gabriela Cuevas Barron. During the meeting they discussed different issues of parliamentary cooperation.

Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich proposed to enhance cooperation between the IPU and the IPA CIS noting the active involvement in the activities of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

Vladimir Andreichenko added that the organizations should bring national parliaments closer in order to promote international peace and security, which is one of the main objectives of the IPU.

Gabriela Cuevas Barron agreed on the need to foster cooperation between the CIS Member Nations with the IPU and noted the importance of engaging national parliaments in the daily activities of the organization.
