Press-conference on the results of the Nevsky Ecological Congress took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace

A press conference on the results of the VIII Nevsky Ecological Congress took place in the press-center of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in the Tavricheskiy Palace. Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergey Ivanov and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Sergey Donskoy took part in the press-conference.

Valentina Matvienko noted that the Nevsky International Ecological Congress was one of the most important platforms for discussing relevant issues both by representatives of the Russian Federation and other countries. According to her, environmental problems can be solved only through international cooperation. “We should support environmental education of all formats both for youth and adult people”, she said.

Sergey Ivanov said that the Russian Federation was focused on the conservation of natural resources. “We are ready to deal with the environmental problems seriously”, he stressed.

Sergey Donskoy noted it was necessary to develop child, pupil and student public movements that would allow fostering "environmental literacy" from early age.

“Only through joining efforts we will be able to preserve nature both in the CIS countries and in other states”, concluded Valentina Matvienko.
