St. Petersburg celebrates City Day

St. Petersburg celebrates its 316th anniversary. A ceremonial laying of flowers to the memorial of the founder of the city Peter I took place at the Senate Square as part of the celebrations.

The event was attended by Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian federation in North-West Federal District Alexander Gutsan, Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Vyacheslav Makarov, Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy, as well as representatives of city’s government, members of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly, honorable citizens, representatives of religious denominations and non-governmental organizations.
