Issues of Humanitarian, Parliamentary and Network Diplomacy Discussed in Moscow

A round table on “Collaborative Approaches in Humanitarian, Parliamentary, and Network Diplomacy” was held at the Central House of Writers in Moscow.

The event was organized by the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus to promote a broader understanding of different forms of diplomacy, cooperation to address humanitarian challenges, as well as to create a platform for constructive interaction between the IPA CIS and the ICRC.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, staff of the Executive Office of the Federation Council, the State Duma, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Higher School of Economics and other institutions. The round table was moderated by Head of the Humanitarian Policy Division of the ICRC in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus Ruth Hetherington.

From the IPA CIS Council Secretariat the event was attended by Advisor of the Department of Model Law-Making Support Unit of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova and Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation,  Head of the Department for International Relations of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Maksimillian Selyutin.

Evgenia Vladimirova presented to the participants of the event a report on the Assembly’s cooperation with the ICRC on a number of issues, including the development of model legislation in the field of humanitarian law, human rights and health care.
