CIS Execom hosted regular meeting of Plenipotentiary Council

The cancellation ceremony for the stamp 25th Anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place as a prelude to the meeting. Minister of Communications and Informatization Natalia Gordienko attended the ceremony.

Plenipotentiary representatives discussed the draft agenda of the CIS Council of Heads of State meeting to be held on 28 October 2016 in Minsk. The draft included 20 issues. The heads of state are expected to discuss the progress in implementing the Free Trade Area Agreement, the forecast of production and consumption of energy resources by the CIS countries until 2030 and priority efforts in the field of mid-term humanitarian cooperation. The draft agenda also included cooperation issues in the field of mining and processing, automotive industry, countering production and trafficking of counterfeit goods, and raising awareness of consumer in the legal domain.

The meeting is expected to consider documents on joint efforts to develop information society, on hydrometeorology, building and development of the IP market. Other issues will include changes to the documents adopted earlier and finance and economy matters.

It was also decided to further update the agenda in accordance with the results of the upcoming meetings of the CIS Economic Council and the CIS Council of MFAs on 9 and 16 September.
