VI International Congress Road Safety for the Safety of Life: preparation is on track

Vice Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vice President of the Organizing Committee of the International Congress Road Safety for the Safety of Life Yury Vorobiev visited St. Petersburg to learn about the progress in the Congress preparation.

The key topic of the Congress this year is the role of civil society in the improvement of road safety.

About 2000 guests are expected to attend the Congress this year including heads of government authorities of all levels, representatives of international traffic-related and other organizations focused on road safety solutions, educational and healthcare institutions, research and expert organizations, business community, professional and industry-specific associations.

The Congress is co-organized by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly, the IPA CIS and the Ministry of Foreign Affair of the Russian Federation.

The VI Congress will take place on 28-30 September at two locations – the Lenexpo Congress and Exhibition Facility and the Tavrichesky Palace. It will feature thematic roundtables on 29 September according to the program available in the official web-site of the Congress at www.road-safety.ru and a plenary session on 30 September.

The meeting of the working group brought together representatives of the Federation Council, IPA CIS Secretariat, MoI Directorate for Road Traffic Management, EMERCOM Main Directorate for St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, and the Administration of St. Petersburg.

Yury Vorobiev was briefed on the launch of the Glow as You Go initiative. During the initiative lots of kids will receive 40 thousand reflecting bands.

On 1 September, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Valentina Matvienko awarded a St. Petersburg gymnasium with a certificate for one thousand reflecting bands provided by 3M Russia LLC to be used by all its first-graders.
