Combating human trafficking discussed in Minsk

On 11-12 February, Minks is hosting the meeting of the expert team on the improvement and approval of the draft CIS Concept on Prevention of Crimes Related to Human Trafficking taking into account socio-economic realities on the ground. Prevention is a key element in stepping-up combat against this transnational crime across the CIS.

The Concept is a comprehensive white paper related to countering trafficking in humans. Inter alia, it has been inspired by learning the lessons of the international cooperation of the CIS Member Nations, the Council of Europe, and the UN.

The Concept is expected to be submitted to the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth after the final approval by the experts.

Yury Andreyev and Alexander Borisov will represent the IPA CIS Secretariat at the meeting of the Council.
