Preparation of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum discussed in St. Petersburg

The first meeting of the working group of the Government of St. Petersburg on preparation and hosting of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum took place in the Northern capital presided by Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the state bodies of the Russian Federation and St. Petersburg, heads of the organizations. Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Sergei Kurdin presented the IPA CIS Secretariat at the meeting.

The participants discussed the organizational matters related to the hosting of the upcoming event, including preparation of the city and venue, as well as the substantial program of the Forum.

The program of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum, in continuity with the program of the previous Forum, fits with the current international agenda and is also in line with the provisions of the UN General Assembly resolution “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”.

The Second Eurasian Women’s Forum signature feature will be the establishing of a number of international discussion platforms, hosting of meetings, open presentations and reporting on studies done by international organizations and associations, including the UNIDO special session, the UNESCO expert platform, the presentation of a World Health Organization report, the presentation of an International Labor Organization study, and the meeting of the BRICS Women Business Club.

The organizers of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum are the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The event is operated by the Roscongress Foundation.
