Regular meeting of Plenipotentiary Council in Belarus

The meeting praised the outstanding law-making efforts of the IPA CIS

The members of the Council followed up on the second stage of implementation of the Plan of Activities (2012-2015) of 2020 CIS Strategy on Economic Growth. Efim Kilar, Deputy Head of Department for Economic Cooperation of the CIS Execom reported on the progress of its implementation. He mentioned the significance of the IPA CIS efforts in adopting the model laws on migration and model agreements on Organized Recruitment for Short-Term Contracts in the CIS. He also emphasized that the Commonwealth member nations and cooperation bodies had shown sustainable progress in the implementation of the plan, with 144 out of 162 activities implemented to this date.

The members of the Council also considered a number of matters related to adapting the Commonwealth to new realities including the need to revise rules of procedure of some of the CIS supreme bodies, preserve or optimize staffing levels of cooperative and other bodies.

The participants of the meeting also discussed draft agendas of the regular the meetings of the Council of MFAs and the Council of Heads of State and agreed to adopt them at the Plenipotentiary Council meeting in July.
