Representatives of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat and the CSTO PA Secretariat met with Vyacheslav Makarov

Chairman of St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Vyacheslav Makarov met with the representatives of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat and the PA CSTO Secretariat in the Red Hall of the Mariinskiy Palace.
The meeting was attended by Acting Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council, Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Sergey Antufiev, Secretary-in-charge of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Petr Ryabukhin, Deputies of Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council: Plenipotentiary Representative of Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the IPA CIS Aidyn Jafarov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia to the IPA CIS Ayk Chilingaryan, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the IPA CIS Askhat Nuskabaj, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the IPA CIS Irina Sokolova, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistant to the IPA CIS Ibod Rakhimov and Deputy Secretary-in-charge of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the CSTO PA Andrey Kudryavtsev.
During the meeting the participants summarized the results of their joint efforts in 2017. Chairman of St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly noted that the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.
“It was a great honor for the Legislative Assembly to receive the representatives of the member parliaments of the CSTO in October. The Organization contributes a lot to the promotion of peace and ensuring security in Eurasia, countering international terrorism and extremism. The IPA CIS and the CSTO effectively address today’s challenges and emerging threats by harmonizing legislation”, added Vyacheslav Makarov.
The representatives of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat and the PA CSTO Secretariat noted that the cooperation with the Saint Petersburg Legislative Assembly could be an example for regional parliaments.
The participants of the meeting congratulated each other on the New Year holidays and expressed hope for a continued fruitful and interesting engagement next year.
The meeting of the representatives of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat and the PA CSTO Secretariat with Chairman of St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Vyacheslav Makarov created a new momentum in exchanges under the Cooperation Agreement between the IPA CIS Council Secretariat and St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly signed in 2015.
