Secretaries general of inter-parliamentary organizations held a meeting in Istanbul

The meeting of the secretaries general of the parliaments of the BSEC Member States with the participation of the secretaries general of the inter-parliamentary organizations having an observer status in the PABSEC opened in Istanbul. The IPA CIS Council Secretary General Alexey Sergeev is taking part in the event at the invitation by the PABSEC Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev.

Besides secretaries general of a the Black Sea region parliaments including some of the IPA CIS member nations, the meeting brought together secretaries general of a number of IPA CIS partner organizations, such as Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Wojciech Sawicki, Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Roberto Montella, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean Sergio Piazzi, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states Mahmud Erol Kiliç, Secretary General of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference Bodo Bahr, as well as Deputy Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic Speaking Countries Fuad Alakbarov.

In his address the IPA CIS Secretary General Alexey Sergeev mentioned that the format of interaction of the represented parliaments and parliamentary organizations at the level of secretaries general was essential for the successful work.. “This is exemplified by a long history of relations between the IPA CIS and the PABSEC which become increasingly active and fruitful every year. Our Assemblies have a cooperation history of almost 20- years”.
