Yuriy Osipov met with Arif Ragimzade

In the framework of the IPA CIS Autumn Session, Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Yuriy Osipov met with Chairman of the IPA CIS PC on Social Policy and Human Rights, Chairman of the Permanent Commission of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic on Regional Issues Arif Ragimzade. Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Aidyn Jafarov attended the meeting.
The parties discussed the importance of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly as an international parliamentary platform for the Commonwealth countries.
Yuriy Osipov stressed the need to strengthen ties between states through a continuous parliamentary dialogue.
At the meeting, they also discussed the possibility of extending the membership of the IPA CIS through Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, and also noted the importance of working in this direction together, with all the countries participating in the IPA CIS.
The parties also discussed issues related to the nominations for the IPA CIS Chingiz Aytmatov Award, and noted the special cultural importance and significance of this award.
Yuriy Osipov also mentioned the issue of enhancing the work of the IPA CIS with youth and children of the Commonwealth countries, creating for these purposes a new platform in St. Petersburg led by the IPA CIS.
