Maulen Ashimbayev: Kazakhstan Attaches Great Importance to Participation of International Observers in Elections

The IPA CIS international observers headed by IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Speaker of the lower house of the Parliament of Tajikistan Dilrabo Mansuri  discussed the progress of the presidential election campaign with Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev.

Maulen Ashimbayev told his colleagues in detail about the political reforms taking place in the country aimed at ensuring the demonopolization and separation of power, the creation of a sustainable political model in order to strengthen and develop democratic processes in Kazakhstan. The Speaker of the Senate also briefed the meeting participants on the legislative activities of the Parliament related to the reforms implementation. He thanked the parliamentarians for their participation in monitoring of the early presidential elections of Kazakhstan, noted that Kazakhstan attached great importance to the participation of international observers in the elections and expressed confidence that the work of observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly would be constructive and effective. He stressed the important role of the IPA CIS in strengthening the potential for cooperation among the Commonwealth countries.

Dilrabo Mansuri noted the high level of the electoral process in Kazakhstan. She told the senators how the work of observers would be organized on the day of voting. The Observer Team will work both in the country and at foreign polling stations in the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as in Italy, China, South Korea, Romania, Turkey and France.

The CIS MPs thanked the Kazakh MPs for their long-term cooperation and expressed hope for further strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The observers handed over to the CEC leadership the “Conclusion on the Compliance of the Legislation Regulating the Early Presidential Elections of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the International Standards for Democratic Elections” and the “Report of the Expert Group on Long-Term Monitoring of the Preparation for the Early Presidential Elections of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 20 November 2022” based on the long-term election monitoring.
