CIS Representatives Participate in 13th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament

Today, the 13th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament “Women at the Centre: From Confronting the Pandemic to Preserving Achievements in a Gender-Responsive Recovery” took place in Vienna (Austria). The event is held on the eve of the Fifth World Conference of the Speakers of Parliament and is organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in cooperation with the United Nations and the Parliament of Austria.
The event was attended by the representatives of the Commonwealth of Independent States: Speaker of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova, as well as Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Galina Karelova. The MPs noted the important role of women in fighting the global pandemic and called for the world community to further advance their rights, freedoms and opportunities.
