Ex-Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyz Republic Chynybai Tursunbekov Passed Away

On 6 July 2020, Kyrgyz MP, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2016–2017, former Member of the IPA CIS Council Chynybai Tursunbekov passed away at the sixtieth year of life.
In 2010–2015, Chynybai Tursunbekov was member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the fifth convocation and headed the faction of the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan (SDPK). In October 2015, he was elected the member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the sixth convocation, the head of the SDPK parliamentary faction and the head of the majority coalition.
In 2016–2017, Chynybai Tursunbekov headed the Jogorku Kenesh and parliamentary delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic in the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. He contributed to the development of the IPA CIS Council, supported the Forum “Children of the Commonwealth” traditionally held in the Kyrgyz Republic on the Issyk-Kul lake, contributed to the activity of the IPA CIS international observers, performing the monitoring of the referendum on amending the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic and local elections.
Chynybai Tursunbekov will always be remembered as an outstanding political figure, wise, fair and responsive man. The IPA CIS Council Secretariat expresses its deep and sincere condolences to the family and friends of Chynybai Tursunbekov on his untimely death.
