Heads of Parliaments of Commonwealth Held Meetings on Sidelines of 150th Assembly of IPU

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS, Valentina Matvienko, held a meeting with Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva on the sidelines of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Tashkent.

The participants noted that the strategic partnership between the two countries has reached a new level, and the main task is to implement the decisions made according to the ”roadmap.” Important areas also include humanitarian cooperation and interregional interaction.

Valentina Matvienko emphasized the value of Uzbekistan’s efforts to preserve historical memory and attention to veterans. Tanzila Narbaeva highlighted the priority of intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary dialogue with Russia.

Valentina Matvienko also met with Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov, noting the high level of organization of events at the Assembly in Tashkent. She congratulated deputies of the Republic of Uzbekistan on their right to host the anniversary Assembly of the IPU.

Meetings also took place with participation of Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy and Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova, where they discussed the effectiveness of intergovernmental interaction.
