Leadership of Kyrgyz and Russian Parliaments Noted High Level of Interaction

On 21 February 2022, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko met with Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Talant Mamytov, who paid an official visit to the Russian Federation.  The discussion focused on bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation and interaction on international venues.

Valentina Matvienko stressed that the visit of the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh to Russia would help strengthen parliamentary contacts. Talant Mamytov noted that there was a complete mutual understanding between Russia and Kyrgyzstan, which allows developed cooperation. The parties noted the fruitful interaction between the legislators of the two countries. Valentina Matvienko highly appreciated the cooperation of Russian and Kyrgyz parliamentarians in the framework of the IPA CIS and stressed the importance of the cultural and educational forum “Children of the Commonwealth” organized annually by the Jogorku Kenesh and the IPA CIS. Talant Mamytov noted that the IPA CIS had become an authoritative and influential organization not only in the Commonwealth, but also on the world stage.

On the same day, a meeting between Talant Mamytov and Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin took place. Talant Mamytov expressed hope that the meeting would give an additional impetus to promotinginter-parliamentary development and addressing issues aimed at strengthening relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. In his turn, Vyacheslav Volodin noted the need to strengthen cooperation between the relevant committees of the parliaments of Russia and Kyrgyzstan and continue the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission. In addition, the parties discussed migration policy, in particular support for labor migrants, issues of learning the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan, economic and humanitarian cooperation.
