MPs of Republic of Belarus Adopted Law on Further Liberalization of Currency Transactions

On 21 May 2020, the MPs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the seventh convocation adopted at their second session a number of draft laws, including the Law on Amending the Codes, which amends the Subsoil Code of the Republic of Belarus and the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus (Special part), as well as the Law on Amending the Codes on Payment of State Duty.

The draft Law on Amending the Law of the Republic of Belarus on State Symbols of the Republic of Belarus was also adopted in the first reading. The document sets forth the images of the national flag and national emblem of the Republic of Belarus.

The MPs also adopted in the second reading the draft Law on Amending the Laws on Currency Regulation and Currency Control. The Law provides for the further liberalization of currency transactions in the Republic and the implementation of measures to de-dollarize the economy, aimed at promoting money settlements and pricing on the Belarusian territory in the national currency only.

The MPs also considered six draft laws on ratification of international agreements: the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation on Mutual Exchange of Geospatial Data between the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, the Agreement on Principles of Taxation Policy in the Field of Tobacco Product Taxes in the Member Nations of the Eurasian Economic Union, the UN Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, the Agreement between the Republic of Belarus and Oriental Republic of Uruguay on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters, the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on System of Promotion of Mutual Trade and the Protocol on Amendments to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union on 29 May 2014.
