Main Areas of Activity of Senate of Parliament of Republic of Kazakhstan Outlined for Upcoming Session

Today, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev and discussed the issues of preparation for the upcoming parliamentary session.

Maulen Ashimbayev informed the President on the main results of activity of the upper chamber during the last session. According to him, the MPs ensured a set of political reforms, adopted the important laws on public health, status of teacher, veterans and the amendments concerning the support of citizens and business during the pandemic. He also told about the results of the last parliamentary session and stressed that the forthcoming session of the Senate would be focused on the implementation of the strategy of post-crisis development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Head of the State noted the need to implement the initiatives aimed at recovering of the economic growth and improving the living standards of citizens. The Senate is expected to carefully examine every draft law and advocate the state’s position and the national interest during the law-making. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also highlighted the importance of the legislative implementation of anti-corruption initiatives designed to fight corruption and increase the trust of public in the work of the state authorities.
