Meeting of President of Russian Federation with Members of Council of Legislators of Russian Federation Took Place at Tavricheskiy Palace

On the eve of the Day of Russian Parliamentarism President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin met with members of Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation at Tavricheskiy Palace.

The Head of State noted that the formation of a new Government of Russia is imminent  and the Parliament is to exercise the constitutional powers provided for by the amendments to the country’s Basic law.

Speaking about the implementation of the long-term program outlined in the Address to the Federal Assembly, Vladimir Putin noted the need to put the task of national conservation, the well-being of Russian families and strengthening the sovereignty of the country.

The President asked legislators to pay special attention to issues of interethnic harmony and civil peace. “Every nation, every ethnos complements each other and makes us all stronger, including helping us today to develop friendly relations with the majority of countries on the planet, and to participate in the formation of a fair multipolar world order based on mutual trust, respect, and the distinctiveness of our peoples”, - noted Vladimir Putin.

The Head of State also spoke about the importance of pragmatic and balanced approaches in Parliamentary Diplomacy, and the development of contacts with friends and partners through the CIS, BRICS, and other associations. He reminded that this year, as part of Russia's chairmanship, the X BRICS Parliamentary Forum will be held.

The meeting with the President of Russia was attended by Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, senators and deputies, Secretary General of the Council of the IPA CIS Dmitriy Kobitskiy and leaders of regional legislative bodies of state power.
