Members of Jogorku Kenesh Strengthened Legislation on Crime Prevention

On 25 March 2021, at the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, the MPs considered and adopted in the third reading the draft Law on Fundamentals of Crime Prevention, initiated by the country’s government.
The draft law is aimed at establishing new rules for interaction between government bodies, local authorities and local communities to ensure a functioning crime prevention system.
According to the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh, the MPs also considered and submitted for a vote in the second rearing the government draft Law on Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Framework of Protecting the Rights of Witnesses, Victims and Other Participants in Criminal Proceedings. The proposed amendments are aimed at aligning the law with the codes adopted in the framework of judicial and legal reform.
