National Flag Day is Celebrated in Republic of Tajikistan

The flag consists of three colors: the red stripe symbolizes freedom and independence, the white one stands for peace and tranquility, and the green one means prosperity. The crown with hemicycle of seven stars is located in the center, symbolizing the seven historic and cultural centers of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The state flag was adopted as the first symbol of independent Tajik country on 24 November 1992 at the 16th session of the Supreme Council of the Republic. In honor of this symbol, on 20 November 2009, by President’s order, 24 November was declared the Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In autumn 2011, the national symbol of the Republic of Tajikistan was placed in the Guinness Book of Records, with the worlds highest 165 m high flagpole set up in Dushanbe. The record lasted till September 2014.
