Participants of Project “Memory Train” Met with Natalya Kochanova

Participant of the patriotic, cultural and educational project “Memory Train” from Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Russia arrived in Brest, Belarus, today. Together with school students from Belarus, they met with Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova. Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev took part in the meeting.

Natalya Kochanova spoke about the work of parliamentarians in protecting the historical truth and preventing the rehabilitation of Nazism.

The project “Memory Train” starts tomorrow, on 22 June, in Brest. The train route will pass through the territory of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. This year, the duration of the event has been increased by two days. It will last until 6 July. School students will visit Brest, Grodno, Gomel, Mogilev and Minsk (Belarus), as well as St. Petersburg, Ufa, Samara, Volgograd, the “Patriot” Park in Moscow region and Moscow (Russia).

The project was first implemented in 2022 on the initiative of Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko. High school students from both countries became its participants and visited 15 cities, memorable places of battles during the Great Patriotic War.

The project participants will enjoy the eventful cultural program. It includes an introduction to the regions and oblasts and the common history of the Victory. This year, school students from Armenia and Kyrgyzstan joined the project.

The project “Memory Train” gives youth from the CIS the opportunity to get in touch with history, learn about the deeds of previous generations, and establish direct youth contacts between the regions.
