Russian Senators Discussed Raising Efficiency of Land Use

Today, the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Agriculture and Food Policy and Environmental Management held a roundtable “Raising Efficiency of Land Use in Current Context” via videoconferencing.

The meeting was devoted to the relevant issues of land use of all categories, as well as to the formation of conceptual approaches and basic principles of land management.

The meeting was chaired by Speaker of the Committee Alexei Mayorov. “Despite having the richest resources, the land use in Russia under current conditions is not efficient for many reasons”, he said noting legislative gaps in that area among them.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology Natalia Amburtseva. On behalf of the IPA CIS, she suggested taking into account the experience of the CIS Member Nations while improving legislation aimed at the efficiency of land use in the current context.
