Parliament of Republic of Moldova Approves Number of Draft Laws on Monetary and Social Policy

Today, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in both readings approved the draft law amending the Law on National Bank of Moldova, the Criminal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Code of Civil Procedure, and the laws on bailout and activities of banks.

According to the press service of the Parliament, the document aims to strengthen the position of the National Bank of Moldova in the field of monetary policy, regulating relations in that area and increasing the efficiency of banking supervision.

In addition, the MPs increased the size of the monthly state allowances for certain categories of citizens: parliamentarians voted in both readings for the relevant amendments to the Law on Additional Social Protection of Certain Categories of the Population.

The MPs also drew attention to the issue of the pandemic: they approved in the first reading additional measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among employees and support the business community in the context of the economic crisis caused by the pandemic. The relevant draft includes amendments to the Tax Code and other legislative acts, establishing new, relevant regulatory measures.
