Senate of Uzbekistan Analyzed Work on Regular Support for Families and Women

On 27 July, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan provided a venue for a meeting of the Republican Commission on Enhancing the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and the Family. The participants discussed the implementation of tasks aimed at accelerating the work on regular support for families and women set by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in March.

Head of the Commission, Speaker of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva noted that a wide range of comprehensive support measures for women were implemented in Uzbekistan, including the law-making activities in this field.

The meeting participants pointed to the need to promote the export of products manufactured by women entrepreneurs and attract financial resources from international financial institutions to support and develop women’s entrepreneurship. They also discussed the challenges faced by the women’s entrepreneurship development program, slow progress in improvement of women’s living standards, insufficient attention to employment centers in local governments and strengthening women’s health.
