Speakers of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Discussed Issues of Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev came on an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. The first meeting of the Permanent Commission on Cooperation between the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan held within the framework of the visit.
According to the press service of the Senate, the Commission is aimed to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation between the chambers of parliaments of the two countries.
Maulen Ashimbayev spoke at the first meeting of the Permanent Commission and noted the importance of expanding and strengthening the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
Also Maulen Ashimbayev met with his colleague, Speaker of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali. During the conversation Maulen Ashimbayev reaffirmed that the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan is interested in deepening cooperation with the Majlisi Milli. The parties discussed the participation of MPs in addressing environmental issues, the use of the waters of transboundary rivers, etc.
In his turn, Rustami Emomali focused on the strengthening of cooperation in the investment sectors, the implementation of projects in the free economic zones of Tajikistan and assistance in ensuring the timely implementation of the decisions of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation. He attached special importance to cooperation with the Parliament of Kazakhstan in multilateral forums, especially within the framework of the IPA CIS.
The Speaker of the Senate and Speaker of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda met on the same day.
