The Republic of Belarus Celebrates Day of State Emblem and State Flag

The Day of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus was established by Presidential Decree in 1995 and is celebrated on the second Sunday of May.

In accordance with Article 19 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the National Flag, the State Emblem and the National Anthem are symbols of the country as a sovereign state. Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 7 June 1995 approved the standard coat of arms and the Regulation on the Flag following the results of the republican referendum held on 14 May 1995.

On 5 July 2004, the Law on State Symbols of the Republic of Belarus was adopted, which is aimed at the legal regulation of issues of state symbols of Belarus established by the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, and determines the description and procedure for their use.
