Vladimir Putin: Peoples of Soviet Union Made Crucial Contribution to Defeat of Nazism

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin published an article “75 Years of the Great Victory: Shared Responsibility to History and Future”, which highlights the causes of the World War II and tells about the lessons that need to be learned from this tragedy, and the inadmissibility of revising its results.

The Head of the Russian Federation points to the causes of the global conflict and emphasizes the crucial role of the peoples of the USSR in the defeat of Nazism, backing up his words with scientific facts and historical records.

Vladimir Putin recalled that the losses of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War amounted to nearly 27 million people.

The Head of the Russian Federation encouraged all states to enhance the process of declassification of the archives and publication of the previously unknown war documents.

Nevertheless, according to Vladimir Putin, there can be no question of justifying the crimes committed by Nazi collaborators.

The Russian President emphasized that the manifestations of historical revisionism on the West regarding the outcome of World War II were dangerous because they grossly and cynically distorted the understanding of the principles of peaceful development laid down in 1945 by the Yalta and San Francisco Conferences.
