Yerlan Koshanov Elected Speaker of Mazhilis of Parliament of Republic of Kazakhstan

Today, at the plenary session of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the MPs unanimously elected Yerlan Koshanov, who previously held the position of the Head of the Presidential Administration, the Speaker of the chamber. The elections were held by secret vote using paper ballots.

The newly-elected Speaker thanked the members of the Mazhilis for their support, emphasizing that this is a high honor and a huge responsibility to the people of Kazakhstan and the head of state.

According to the press service of the chamber, earlier at the same meeting, the Mazhilis adopted a resolution on the early termination of the powers of former Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin based on his resignation letter.
