 Senators of Kazakhstan Approve Legislation to Strengthen Social Safety Net for Citizens

On 23 September 2021, a meeting of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by Maulen Ashimbayev took place. During the meeting, the MPs considered a number of draft laws related to strengthening the social security net of Kazakhstan citizens and preserving the ecosystem of the Caspian Sea. In particular, the senators approved the Law on Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Social Security for Certain Categories of Citizens, which introduces a number of innovations that improve the situation of citizens with disabilities. In addition, the Law on Ratification of the Protocol on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context to the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea was also adopted.

According to the press service of the chamber, the issues of ecology and environmental protection are one of the priorities in the work of the senators.
