Armenia celebrates Christmas and Theophany

Before the 5th century all Christian churches had celebrated Christmas and Epiphany on 6 January. The Armenian Church has not stopped the tradition.

On Epiphany Eve the Divine Liturgy takes place. Christian adherents lit candles in churches and bring them home for blessing.

6 January is a public holiday in the Republic of Armenia.
