Parliament of Republic of Belarus Adopted Statement on 75th Anniversary of Victory

On 22 April, the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus adopted a Statement on the 75^th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Previously, the document was considered by the lower chamber of parliament.

The statement says that the 75^th anniversary of the Victory is a day of dignity and deep appreciation of the elder generation, which defended freedom and independence of the Motherland and saved the world from fascism, the day of blessed memory about the millions who lost their lives for the sake of the future.

The parliamentarians of Belarus stress that attempts to misrepresent the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War are unacceptable, and they express their confidence that the 75^th anniversary of the Victory will be a fundamental milestone in understanding the role and importance of the political and moral lessons of the war for the development of the country.

The year 2020 has been declared as the Year of the 75^th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in the Commonwealth of Independent States. In Belarus, examining the events of a wartime is considered as an important part for educating the young generation in the spirit of loyalty to their Homeland and respect for their ancestors.
