Republic of Tajikistan celebrates National Flag Day

The National Flag Day is celebrated in the Republic of Tajikistan as a national holiday since 2009.

The national flag features three colors: red stands for freedom and independence, white stands for peace and tranquility, green stands for prosperity. A crown with a semicircle of seven stars symbolizing seven historical centers of Tajikistan is located in the center.

In autumn 2011, the national symbol of the Republic of Tajikistan entered in the Guinness Book of Records when the world’s highest 165 m high flagpole was installed in Dushanbe. The record went unbroken until September 2014.

Historians claim that the flag originated as a symbol of nationhood of the Tajik people since time immemorial.
