Development of Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation To Be Discussed at Meeting of Council of CIS Heads of State

A regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of CIS Member Nations at Statutory and Other Bodies took place in the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk.

Representative of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat at the CIS Executive Committee Igor Borovko took part in the meeting on behalf of the IPA CIS.

The meeting elaborated the draft agendas of the regular meeting of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers and the Council of the CIS Heads of State to take place in Tashkent on 15 and 16 October respectively.

The participants were also briefed on the activities of the CIS Advisory Board on Cooperation in the Field of Public Health and discussed the situation related to the spread of COVID-19 infection in the CIS. They noted the important role of the Advisory Board in the development of the CIS interaction in the field of preserving, restoring and improving the health of the population, providing medical assistance to citizens and ensuring sanitary and epidemiological wellness, developing and strengthening interstate relations in the medical field.

Besides, the meeting approved the Joint Action Plan of the CIS Executive Committee, the Council of Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representatives and the Economic Policies Commission at the CIS Economic Council for the implementation of the decisions of the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government, which took place in May, as well as the proposals of the heads of delegations.

The members of the Council were also presented with the interim results of the implementation of the Concept of the Presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the CIS in 2020 and the Action Plan for its implementation.

The meeting also considered the issue of the Head of the CIS Observer Mission at the Presidential Elections in the Republic of Belarus on 9 August 2020. The Mission will be headed by Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev.
