Dushanbe Officially Declared CIS Cultural Capital in 2021

On 21 March 2021, the official ceremony for declaring Dushanbe the CIS Cultural Capital in 2021 took place in the State Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Sadriddin Aini. Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary of the Beketzhan Zhumakhanov and Executive Director of the CIS Humanitarian Action Trust FundAnatoly Iksanov presented the relevant certificate to Speaker of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, head of the city of Dushanbe Rustami Emomali.

According to the Dushanbe administration, the official part was followed by a presentation of a short film about the achievements of the Tajikistan capital and a concert with performances by artists from the Republic of Tajikistan and other Commonwealth countries.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Office of the President, the CIS Member Nations, twin cities, diplomatic corps, international and regional organizations, heads of ministries and departments of the Republic of Tajikistan, public authorities of Dushanbe, the staff of educational institutions, travel companies and the media.
