CIS Countries Foster Information Exchange on Measures to Support National Tourism Industries

Today, the meeting of the working group on addressing the challenges in the field of tourism at the CIS Advisory Board on Tourism was held via videoconferencing. The meeting decided that the CIS state authorities in the field of tourism should exchange information on measures to support national tourism industries during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event brought together the representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee. The information exchange will help overcome the consequences of the crisis in the tourism market caused by the pandemic.

During the meeting, it was noted that the CIS Member Nations had taken extensive comprehensive measures to support the tourism industry, including the financial assistance to the tourism agencies, wage subsidies to employees, tax holidays, privileges and deferrals, organization of communicative and marketing campaigns for forming pent-up demand, as well as promotion of tourism destinations.

According to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee, the meeting recommended to the members of the working group to promote awareness of the experience of the CIS countries on the restrictive measures with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic and measures to support the tourism, as well as use their contacts for expeditiously addressing the issues related to the cooperation in the field of tourism between the countries concerned.
