IPA CIS Develops Cooperation with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy met with Head of Country Cluster Delegation of the IFRC for Russian Federation and Belarus John Entwistle and Head of Country Cluster Delegation of the IFRC for South Caucasus Davron Mukhamadiev. Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the IPA CIS Council Alexey Dolzhikov, Head of the Expert and Analytical Directorate Denis Zhuk and Head of International Cooperation Department of the Russian Red Cross Anastasia Teneta also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Dmitriy Kobitskiy noted that 10 years ago the organizations signed the Cooperation Agreement between the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. These years have been marked by fruitful and effective joint work both in the field of model law-making and in terms of holding common events.

John Entwistle highly appreciated the long-term cooperation between the organizations and noted the importance of joint work for the IFRC. Davron Mukhamadiev spoke about the organization’s partnership with the CIS parliaments.

The meeting highlighted the progressive development of cooperation between the IPA CIS and the IFRC and their readiness to implement joint projects. The parties discussed the process of implementing the laws adopted by the Assembly into the national legislation of the Commonwealth countries, including the documents adopted in cooperation with the IFRC.
